When we hear the word mermaid usually our thoughts drift to the little mermaid with her red hair and green tail. Ariel is just one of many mermaids which brings up a question: “Are there different types of mermaids?”

There are different types of mermaids depending on where they live in the world. For example, you have tropical mermaids. They normally are found in warmer waters and are more frequently on the surface to absorb the sunlight.

There are also artic mermaids which live in cold waters. Artic mermaids typically have additional scales to thrive in freezing temperatures.

There are also different types of mermaids depending on the powers they have. Some mermaids can shapeshift and turn into various sea creatures. The next time you see a dolphin, fish, or sea turtle it could possibly be a shapeshifting mermaid.

Some mermaids have healing powers. When sea creatures or fellow mermaids get injured, healing mermaids use their magical powers to heal their injuries. Some mermaids use a magical orb when healing.

Finally, there are Sun Tail mermaids. Sun Tail mermaids are found all throughout the world. Sun Tail mermaids are kind and super graceful in the water. The most common mermaid sightings are those of Sun Tail mermaids.
